Peugeot Bolsters 2008 SUV Lineup in Spain with New Hybrid ‘Edition’ Trim

The new value-focused model aims to challenge rivals with a strong equipment package and standard mild-hybrid powertrains.

Peugeot is continuing to enhance the lineup of its top-selling vehicles, turning its attention to the Peugeot 2008, the brand’s best-selling model in Spain. The move comes just days after the company introduced the new Peugeot 208 Edition to the market, signaling a broader strategy to strengthen its most popular offerings.

The 2008 has already established a strong market presence, with 18,434 units registered so far this year, placing it in the Top 10 of best-selling new cars for 2025. In a bid to challenge the segment-leading SEAT Arona, Peugeot has now introduced the new 2008 Edition, a trim level designed to offer a compelling balance of price and features. The model is now available for order in Spain and is set to arrive in dealerships.

Hybrid Engines for the New Peugeot 2008 Edition

Mechanically, the Edition version is available exclusively with hybrid powertrains. The entry-level option is a 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline engine featuring 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) technology. This unit produces 110 CV and 205 Nm of maximum torque, enabling the Peugeot SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.4 seconds.

For customers seeking higher performance, the brand offers a more powerful version of the same engine, delivering 145 CV and 230 Nm of maximum torque. With this increased output, the 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time is reduced to 8.3 seconds. Both engine options are paired with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a front-wheel-drive system.

Thanks to its MHEV technology, the vehicle is classified as a hybrid, earning it the ECO environmental label from the DGT, which provides significant mobility advantages. This classification is increasingly crucial for drivers in major Spanish cities like Madrid and Barcelona, which have implemented low-emission zones.
