Newag and Siemens Join Forces to Bid for Polish High-Speed Train Contract
The partnership aims to supply 20 trains capable of 320 km/h to national rail operator PKP Intercity.

Polish rolling stock manufacturer Newag SA has entered into a preliminary agreement with Siemens Mobility GmbH and its Polish subsidiary to pursue a major contract for high-speed trains, the company said in a statement.
The partnership is targeting a public tender announced by national carrier PKP Intercity in December 2025. The contract covers the supply of 20 electric multiple-unit trains capable of reaching speeds of at least 320 km/h, with delivery scheduled over a seven-year period.
Under the initial terms, Newag would handle part of the production and vehicle homologation processes should the joint bid prove successful. The two companies intend to finalize the specific details of their collaboration in a separate agreement, which is expected to be signed by April 2026.
The agreement is exclusive, binding both parties to refrain from negotiations with other entities regarding the scope of the project until December 31, 2026.
