Kia’s Sub-€30,000 EV2 Breaks Cover in Pre-Show Leak
First look at the compact electric car aiming for a 400 km range ahead of its official Brussels debut.

Just 48 hours before the Brussels Motor Show opens its doors, Kia’s highly anticipated EV2 electric car has been revealed in an unexpected leak, exposing the design of one of Europe’s most awaited new models.
The premature reveal, which showcases the front and side profile of the compact EV, reportedly originated from a Norwegian journalist who released a recording of the vehicle ahead of its official presentation. The new model is positioned as Kia’s smallest electric car, targeting urban buyers and those for whom the successful EV3 is too large or expensive.
The production model’s design stays remarkably true to the EV2 concept car presented a year ago. The main lighting functions are housed in LED clusters at the vehicle’s corners, featuring vertical projectors for low and high beams. This replaces the thinner light strips seen on the concept. Other production-ready changes include a satin aluminum insert on the front bumper that now accommodates the license plate, larger regulation-compliant mirrors, and gloss black A-pillars.
The side profile mirrors the concept, though it incorporates practical details like manual flush-mounted door handles instead of electric ones and the addition of roof bars. While the rear design remains unseen, it is expected to follow the concept closely, with necessary modifications for production regulations.
Inside, the EV2 is set to feature a modern, tech-forward cockpit with dual digital screens and support for over-the-air wireless updates. The vehicle’s appeal will be bolstered by its performance and pricing. The range will offer up to 150 horsepower with a maximum driving range of 400 kilometers and fast-charging capabilities. Critically, the price is promised to be under €30,000.
The new Kia EV2 will be manufactured in Slovakia, with full specifications and official pricing expected to be confirmed in the coming hours.
